How to access Service Control Manager (SCM)

Back

Service Control Manager (SCM) is a private environment that is activated with each cloud hosting website. SCM allows administrators to manage several important features of their website and it also includes a file manager and a console access supporting both CMD and Powershell environments.

To access SCM website administrators should:

  • take note of the name of the website they activated (for ex. companyblog);
  • if website name is companyblog, cloud hosting environment will generate an address like

    companyblog.eu-w.cloudapps.enterprisehost.biz

    which is the URL for public website address;
  • given that URL, SCM address is

    companyblog.scm.eu-w-cloudapps.enterprisehost.biz

    please note che scm word between companyblog and eu-w.
Connection to that URL is secured through a self-signed certificate so please disregard any error message that states that SCM website is not secure.

A popup window is then displayed asking for SCM credentials. Such credentials can be found inside the publishing profile file that can be downloaded from the Control Panel. That is an XML file that contains many settings needed to automatically publish your application directly from Visual Studio. First username and password items can be used to access SCM.
